San/Princess Mononoke

Anime: Princess Mononoke

Materials used: The mask was made of Wonderflex, hot glue, spraypaint, thin black fabric for the eye/mouth holes, and EVA half circle dowels for the raised design. The cape and fabric attached to the mask were made of faux fur, the teeth necklace was made of Wonderflex and a black stretch cord. The shirts were made of linen, I purposefully didn’t hem them to create a rugged look. The earrings and knife (which also doubles as a spear tip) were made from Wonderflex and small patterns made of Wonderflex and red paint. The headband and arm bands were made of pleather and Wonderflex discs. Ashitaka’s pendant was bought at Jo-Ann (it looked close enough). The ears were made of Wonderflex, and painted separately on both sides. Then I punched tiny holes in them, and sewed them to the headband. Boots were reused from Deedlit.

Fun facts: Princess Mononoke is my favorite anime and movie, and it’s environmental ideology inspires me to this day. As a result of being moved by this film, I’ve volunteered at many a cleanup on wooded land.

First premiered: 2022
